I love this picture of my dad at 92, reading a birthday card from my mum. His eyes say it all.

Theirs has been a steadfast love, a picture of God’s unfailing love for us.

My love for God is an unsteady thing, sometimes it burns up like a freshly stoked fire but there are days I forget to fuel it and it gets cold.

God’s love for me is steady, steadfast – an all-day love.

Can my little mind absorb this? All day God directs his love to me. All day, he commands his love towards you. He promises a 24-hour love.

As you read this, God is directing his love to you and to me, waiting for us to receive it.

Whatever your summer is looking like, I pray that you will have time to receive that love that never fails.
