Jesus goes ahead

Spring 2025 isn’t what I planned but I am thankful for good news! The cancer hasn’t spread – what a relief -and they got it all so no need for another op or chemo. I am immensely grateful for superb medical care and for so much practical love and prayer and for your lovely messages. I am just back from a week in the countryside gently recuperating in spring sunshine. Next step is radiotherapy and a new drug regime so there is still a way to go but we are over the biggest hurdle, making me deeply aware of those who have a harder journey.
These moments of facing our mortality and fragility clarify the mind as to what matters. Our lives are held tenderly in God’s hands and every day is his.
We were away on Easter Day surrounded by trees bursting from stark silhouettes into blossom and I have been thinking about the gift of new life that comes fresh to us every day from God, even when spring has sprung and the petals fall.
The verse that stuck with me from the Easter story was in Matthew’s account when the angel told the disciples this – “He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you …”.
The Bible so often views life as a journey, challenging us not to be static, not to cling onto the past but always with the reassurance that Jesus goes ahead. That’s a comfort for me as I look ahead to the next weeks and I pray that it will comfort you too.
With my love,
Kate
